Trying to figure out how to order job supplies by the unit it is purchased in, but then need to allocate it in square feet, for example, grout purchased by the bag but allocated to jobs by the square foot.
The way to accomplish this is:
The item has to exist in the product list as two items – one product record with the unit of measure as BAG with the per-bag unit cost, and another product record with the unit of measure as SF with the per-sf unit cost.
The product goes on the Purchase Order as BAG & let’s say 1 bag costs $25 and covers 100 sf. Receive the PO & Cost the Inventory at $25 per bag.
Next, do an Inventory Adjustment to adjust that line with the BAG to -0- quantity, which removes the BAG and the $25 from inventory.
Now, use Return/Found Inventory to add 100 SF to inventory at 0.25 per-sf, which also adds the $25 back to inventory.
