When viewing a print preview, pdf or document printed from RFMS, words overlap, or parts of it are unreadable.
This issue is due to print quality settings for the printer. RFMS uses the printer drivers to create the document and/or print preview, then hands it off to the printer for completion.
To fix the issue, open Properties for your selected printer and lower the print quality / resolution / dpi in your printer settings. While this change can be made for print jobs in RFMS, we recommend making this change in Windows Settings for your printer.
Note: Different brands of printers use different wording and different Properties windows. Therefore, the screenshots below are for example only. If uncertain where to find the settings for your printer, please consult with your local technician or support for the printer manufacturer.
To change in RFMS:
- In the RFMS Print window, click the three dots.
- Open the Printer Properties, then go to Print Quality.
- Change Print Quality to the lowest setting, or one setting higher, if needed.
- For printers that show print quality as dpi: set it to 600 dpi or less.
- For all other printers: select the lowest setting such as, "Draft," "Economy," or "Toner Saver" (Exact wording will depend on your printer brand and model)
To change in Windows Settings:
- Go to Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > Printers & Scanners.
- Select your Printer, then Printer Preferences.
- Locate the Print Quality and change to the lowest setting, or one setting higher, if needed.
- For printers that show print quality as dpi: set it to 600 dpi or less.
- For all other printers: select the lowest setting such as, "Draft," "Economy," or "Toner Saver" (Exact wording will depend on your printer brand and model)
If the above steps have not corrected the problem try the following as a test.
-
Change the default printer in Windows to a PDF Printer (Like BullZip {free}) or the XPS Writer. Then change the printer in the RFMS module to the same printer, using the “File > Print Setup” menu. Try to print to this printer now and see if the file that is output looks any different.
If the PDF or XPS looks good, then this tells us that it is a printer driver compatibility issue. If there are issues, then the printer drivers need to updated or replaced. Consult with your local technician for assistance.
